The annual Unsung Hero Award Gala is a premier fundraising gala and major social event focusing on raising awareness of the need and benefits of a higher education for students served by DFW Scholarship Fund and the contributions of our North Texas community.
Hosted by a diverse group of individuals, corporate sponsors, local businesses, and professional organizations, the Annual Unsung Hero Award Gala is a must-attend event supporting the DFW Scholarship Fund.

Scott Murray

Scott Murray, host

Journalist, author, philanthropist

Scott Murray served for three decades as the Sports Director/Anchor on the local NBC nightly news in the Dallas/Fort Worth and Washington DC markets. In addition, he has served as host of numerous television specials and radio programs, master of ceremonies at many hundred live events and charity galas, and both keynote speaker and moderator at hundreds of corporate conferences and industrial conventions. He has worked tirelessly on behalf of local nonprofits to raise millions of dollars to help them achieve their missions and goals.

Today, he and his son Doug run the award-winning Murray Media, an event audio/visual and video production company. Scott has won numerous Emmy Awards for his broadcast journalism, was named Sportscaster of the Year seventeen times by various news organizations, and has received the prestigious Silver Circle Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Whether interviewing presidents of the United States, international Olympic champions, Super Bowl coaches, or local sports hopefuls, Scott has always treated each person with the interest, respect, and dignity that define his character.

Jim Keyes, emcee

Jim Keyes is known internationally as a business and social change agent. Currently spearheading several new tech initiatives, his career has included serving as Chief Executive of two Fortune 500 companies (Blockbuster Inc. and 7-Eleven), and creating a strategic consumer product collaboration with Walmart. Jim is the founder and a board member of the nonprofit foundation Education is Freedom, a nationally recognized college, career and life-readiness provider.
